INT: Interviewer
M: Miyavi
INT: Ever since October I've been hearing many thing about events concerning
you meeting your fans. Plus today you've shown up wearing a clean white dress,
this has made me understand that...
M: Understand that "Miyavi's got it really bad"? *laughs*
INT: No no, I think it suits you Miya-chan. You're someone who really has
confidence in themselves.
M: But it looks sort of suspicious right? Well, just think of it as a reward
from Miyavi. I took so much time to dress so nicely and intricately for
everyone *laughs*
INT: Mm...you look very beautiful *laughs* But I still can't help but ask?
M: Go ahead! You can ask, I'd be glad to answer *laughs* But don't ask anything
that's too hard. I haven't gotten much sleep lately, I might not be able to
answer. I'm kinda getting stupider to, I haven't had the chance to eat tuna
much; I think I'm lacking in calcium.
INT: Then let's ask you about today's topic, the concept that you already
chose?
M: I feel that we can't help but not believing lies sometimes. The same with a
loss that no one can change or prevent it from happening. And no matter how
hard you try, it comes to a point when it's just all about fate; everything
will happen sooner or later. Sometimes enduring a loss for the future maybe the
birth of a precious crime and lying for the sake of someone we love is a sweet
lie. One that no matter how hard it is, you have to choose the right words and
say it.
INT: There are many instances when I don't understand this; you love each other
but you still have to lie? Is it because we're humans that we have to do it?
M: Because it started when Cain killed his own brother, who was his own flesh
and blood (Here, Miyavi is referring to the Bible story of the world's first
murder which was when Cain killed his own brother, Able, out of jealousy...man,
I just spent a whole month on that story in my English class, I can't believe
Miyavi is actually talking about it O_O -D.T.). Humans are liars and will
always hide their evil side from the ones they love. It's been like that since
the time of our ancestors until now. There is no day in the world in which no
one lies. Therefore, when we lie to someone we love, we would say "I did
it so that they would feel good" even though sometimes we actually did it
for our own good. But we're not brave enough to admit
that it was all for the benefit of ourselves.
INT: It's as though when we say that we're doing it for the sake of someone we
love, it's not that shameful. But if we say that we did it for ourselves,we
become selfish right? Even though there are somethings in which we shouldn't be
lying about at all, but humans somehow always find things to put together so
that they can lie about it.
M: That's why the world can be compared to a very big theatre stage.
INT: How about Miya-chan's image of a blooming flower today?
M: I'm a flower that blooms and withers at the sametime. Someone once told me
this, he was a friend that I haven't spoken to in a very long time. He said,
"My love is like a flower that blooms yet withers at the sametime."
It sounds so beautiful, it means "My love is already over even though it's
just begun" or something like that. It's so sad that I want to write a
song with it, except that this person is very protective of this phrase. I
think he'll kill me now that I've said it here *laughs* (Just a side note here:
I don't know if Miyavi's friend here is a guy or a girl; they don't indicate it
here in the interview...-D.T.)
INT: *laughs* So what's Miya-chan's style of clothing today?
M: They call it gothic lolita. But this is more lolita because it's all white.
You see it and feel "Ah...I want to cherish him" or something like
that? *laughs*
INT: *laughs his head off* Gimme a moment to get a breath, I don't have any
strength left?
M: Am I so beautiful that you need time to take a breath? *laughs*
INT: Yes, yes. But how do you feel wearing such a long dress?
M: My editor said, "No one fits this dress more than you" *laughs*
INT: That's such a sweet lie? *laughs*
M: Haha, I think so too *laughs*
INT: Ah...well how about your work? Have you been busy lately?
M: I'm in recording sessions right now. I'm also working on my new song. I'm
still dividing my time the same way: work work and work, then it's back to
sleep sleep, and sleep in my room. I haven't gotten much sleep lately, I can't
go to sleep.
INT: You haven't relaxed much lately, huh?
M: I do want to. I haven't bought any clothes for Autumn yet, I'm recycling old
stuff *laughs* Even though this season in Japan is the fashion season, but
look: Miyavi is still wearing a white dress *laughs*
INT: Well, you're a beautiful woman with the Autumn season? *laughs*
M: Is that good? *laughs*
INT: But I'm still stuck on the flowers, when you said that you bloom but
wither at the sametime; are you like a sakura blossom?
M: No, because a sakura blossom would bloom and fall over night. You get a
whole day to watch it. What I mean is, before you even get to see its beauty,
it has already fallen. Like a blink of an eye. You want to look at it but you
can't even do that, it passes by too fast. Too fast even to remember how
beautiful it was.
INT: You can only remember the sadness you felt after the flower has withered.
It's like the saying, "you should tell your love when you have the chance
to"?
M: Because even if you say it now, you'd be disappointed. But you still have
the chance to say your love so that when you come back and reflect on it, it
would become the saddest word. Like that.
INT: Yeah, it sounds so depressing: when your most precious words become the
saddest words.
M: This sounds like the conversation of two broken-hearted people.
INT: The Tokyo boy in searching of love or the ill-fated boy in searching of
love in Tokyo?
M: I should take that and write a folk song *laughs*
INT: Go ahead, try it as a new single for the fans who are waiting for you
*laughs* By the way, ever since you came to Tokyo , is there anything you fel
should be kept a secret?
M: My sleepiness.
INT: That doesn't count! *laughs*?
M: Then it's probably how I feel? Some things don't go as I wish it would. Some
people around me can do things for themselves with a straight face. I read
once, in a foreign magazine, that Japanese and Tokyolites are big hearted.
They're kind and generous. But I don't think everyone will get the chance to
meet someone like that because no matter where you go, there are good and bad
people. I have received many kind helps but I've also been taken advantage of.
INT: And the truth? Do you like Tokyo, Miya-chan?
M: This is a beautiful place with many memories. My dreams really started to
take shape here, and when I intended to follow it, Tokyo was the first place I
thought of.
INT: You chose for Tokyo to be the place to weave your dreams?
M: Yes! There are prabably many who think like me but not everyone who drag all
their belongings here will get the what they want. Somtimes you mess up and you
go home crying from pain and mouring for the loss of what you hoped for. I
heard that sometimes dreams can hurt us because you might dream far and cannot
reach it. When your dream becomes everything to you, if you don't have it then
you wouldn't want to be here anymore. The same for me; if I have no goal then
there's no worth in walking forward.
INT: Actually, all humans should think the same but can you answer the question
of what exactly is your true dream?
M: When I was a teenager, I was very hot-blooded. I never listened to anything
anyone said, I just ran ran ran. Ran to see the light that was ahead of me.
There were many times in which I go tired but because I chose to do it, living
with music is something that makes me happiest.
INT: Have you ever regretted choosing this path?
M: Like, "I want to go back and redo something"?
INT: Like if you could choose to be something else, would you?
M: No, I wouldn't because I've been a stubborn person ever since forever. Like
even though I knew that learning to ride a bycicle would involve falling and
getting hurt, I was still determined to be able to ride it within a day. Even
if my legs and arms break, I didn't stop. I did that over and over and over
again, and when I succeeded I was ten times prouder than anyone else.
INT: Ah...that's so like you, Miyavi-kun? (lol, what happened to Miya-chan?
^O^" -D.T.)
M: I do what I can, and try in what I can't. It's always been like that because
I don't want to lose. Even if I have no strength left I don't want to
lose...how stubborn! *laughs*
INT: I think so too. Men usually never want to lose to something they have
aspired for; I guess they do become stubborn?
M: But if you're talking about little determinations and goals, women have much
more endurance than us. Such as putting on makeup, getting dressed, thinking
about which angle do they look the most beautiful or the most cutest is.
They've all tested all of that, and I think that a girl's efforts in their own
unique way is very cute. I like girls who smile sweetly and act cute while
wearing a lolita dress. I think it's so adorable, it makes me want to cherish
them. Like when I watch my lives, and fans come wearing fluffy dresses, it's so
cute. I really love watching these things in secret...I'm kinda perverted (The
word they translate it as could also be psychotic...whichever you prefer
^O^" -D.T.)
INT: Really?
M: Yeah! Because girls in that type of skirt always looks better than girls in
pants no matter what *laughs*
INT: And how's the image of your new single coming along?
M: The clothes are normal. I guarantee that I won't be wearing a lolita dress
*laughs*
INT: But before didn't you model for some famous brand names in gothic clothes,
Miya-chan?
M: The clothes that I wore for the photoshoots were over half a 100,000. I was
really happy to be a model, but now I don't have time anymore *laughs*
INT: Is that so? And what's your program after this year's concert ends?
M: I'm going home to eat my mom's soba, then I'll lie down and count the stars
out in the country.
INT: It's simple, but you seem very happy?
M: I've had many little things with which I'm happy with. Just doing what I can
and complete it, on days in which I do everything right, I don't hav to fix anything.
I think that, that alone is very good already. Like my new PV. Right now we're
planning it, I want the same lead female actor but I heard that she's rather
busy. So the PV is an edited version of the live at Shibuya. Miyavi so puts in
no investments at all! *laughs his head off*
INT: How about the next live? Are you really going to play the guitar?
M: I always play it, but it's an acoustic guitar so I can't play it violently.
INT: But I heard some samples of your new song. The wind blowing and the heart.
It sounds powerful?
M: You can say that I had to put in a lot of effort *laughs uproariously*
That's pretty admirable, right? But I have to tell you, right now we're
talking, I'm too afraid to go to the bathroom. Just looking at my dress gives
me the creeps. I'm afraid people would misunderstand; I don't want to go the
men's bathroom and be thought of as a woman going into the wrong bathroom.
INT: Now that you mention it, you really do look like a woman. The only thing
is that you have an athelete's height. Because real women probably won't be as
tall unless your a half-foreign model, or something?
M: *laughs* I told you before already that I look like my mom; so I came out
looking more like a woman. But really, the longer I wear this dress, the more I
get scared of my mind when I look into the mirror.
INT: Is it that bad? It must be harsh, because going to the bathroom alone
isn't that nice *laughs* (um...I really don't know what the guy's trying to say
^O^" -D.T.)
M: It's come to that *laughs*
INT: We're running out of space...would you like to introduce your work?
M: Right now I'm on my tour entitled "Peace & Smile Carnival tour
2005" where I play around with the brothers at PSC. The concept of the
work is "Do it yourself," and I want everyone to use their intellect
more, other than that you should also do the things you want to do. It's a battle
between skills, so whether you're in Miyavi's fanclub or other bands' fanclubs,
don't you dare miss it! I'll send a kiss to everyone during the event
*laughs*....what am I doing
INT: But looking from the photos, it seems that you're the leader in
everything. You divide the work and do everything youself?
M: Well, it's a live in which we put a lot of effort into, so I want everyone
to come see with their own eyes as to how it is, and how fun it is. I'll see
you!
THE END.
